So I'm sitting on a hill in a park with my dog Lil' Cowboy (Cowboy for short or Shithead when he's being a ding-a-ling). I am about to meet his new family and I am dreading it and waiting for them to arrive doesn't make it easy. Just want to get it over with. Not looking forward to the feelings that will undoubtedly overwhelm me when I say goodbye that will be happening within the hour.
As I think about this I find myself strategically thinking how to avoid this pain. Do it fast? Say goodbye without thinking about it – forcing coldness as if a goodbye isn't existing?
